Panel discussion: The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and the Calls to Action

Moderator: Alan Greyeyes
We were grateful to have Alan Greyeyes as moderator for this session. Greyeyes is a member of the Peguis First Nation. He runs an artist and project management company along with the sākihiwē festival. Among his many accomplishments, Greyeyes established the sākihiwē festival with the goal of making the arts more accessible to Indigenous families in Winnipeg. He also helped launched the Manitoba Ahbee Festival, the Indigenous Music Awards, and Manitoba Music’s Indigenous Music and Market Builder Residencies, among other projects.

Dr. Cynthia Wesley-Esquimaux, Chair of Truth and Reconciliation at Lakehead University. Dr. Cynthia Wesley-Esquimaux is a former Vice-Provost (Aboriginal Initiatives) at Lakehead University, Thunder Bay where she is now the Indigenous Chair on Truth and Reconciliation. She is a member of the Chippewa of Georgina Island First Nation in Lake Simcoe. Cynthia has dedicated her life to building bridges of understanding and sees endless merit in bringing people from diverse cultures, ages, and backgrounds together to engage in practical dialogue. 

Ry Moran, Canada's inaugural Associate University Librarian - Reconciliation at the University of Victoria. Ry Moran a Métis from Victoria British Columbia. He graduated with Distinction from the University of Victoria. Ry is a former Director of Statement Gathering and the National Research Centre for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. In this role, he is directly responsible for a number of core Commission mandates including statement gathering, document collection and the preservation of all collected materials. 

Wab Kinew
Wab Kinew (he/him) is a dad, leader of the Manitoba NDP and author of the award winning #1 national bestseller, The Reason You Walk: A Memoir, among other titles.
